The work will involve:

  • Discussing your circumstances in detail, and confirming whether this is the most appropriate  application or route for you, timing and other options that may be available
  • Giving you advice about:
    – the requirements of the Immigration Rules and whether you meet the criteria;
    – If you do not fulfil certain criteria, whether this can be overcome and how;
    – Considering the supporting evidence you have provided;
  • Where necessary, helping you obtain further evidence (such as medical records and bank statements), including taking statements of any witnesses.
  • Preparing your application and submitting it on your behalf, which as a rough estimate we anticipate will take between 8 to 10 hours.  It could take longer if your matter is not straightforward.
  • Attendance at a Home Office interview: if the Home Office ask you to attend an interview, we will give you clear advice (and discuss the possibility of us attending with you) at the appropriate time. This could be a minimum of 4 hours of work.
  • Giving you advice about the outcome of the application and any further steps you need to take. This could take another 1.5 hours.

The amount of hours spent on your application depends on the number of documents that need to be considered, whether they need to be translated, whether anything is missing and how long it will take to obtain any missing documents.

Timescales and key stages

The timescale for advising and processing an immigration application varies depending on various factors.

These factors are:

  • The type of application processed
  • Estimated timescales of the Home Office’s UK Visas and Immigration Department
  • The time that is needed to compile the information to advise you
  • Which language(s) you speak
  • Whether you are applying with other dependants

For example, a typical application for leave to remain can take between 8-10 hours to complete.

For other immigration services such as application for citizenship, naturalisation, working visas, student visas, spousal visas and European Economic Area naturalisation as British citizen takes on average between 3-5 hours to complete.

If you are applying for indefinite leave to remain in the UK this could take up to 6 months in addition to the time that it takes to prepare the application.

We cannot guarantee how long the Home Office will take to process your application..

Please note that the number of hours are an estimate and can vary depending on the individual circumstances and nature of the application. Complex applications can take longer.

If you are able to provide sufficient evidence at our first meeting and clearly meet the applicable Immigration Rules, a specific timeframe will be given.

Disbursements

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as visa fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

Expenses and other costs to third parties may arise, particularly with respect to Barristers (if required) and Home Office fees for making your application. Home Office fees are payable directly to the Home Office when making your application and are not included in the fees set out above.

Third party costs that could arise:

  • Interpreters who are approved by the Home Office can charge up to £400 for half a day.
  • Independent expert reports e.g medical experts can cost up to £2000. These are not required in most cases. We will let you know as soon as possible if we consider an expert report is necessary.
  • If we attend an interview with you, there will be additional disbursements in respect of our travel and where relevant, accommodation expenses.

The costs quoted here do not include:

  • Any Home office fees for making the application. You will pay this to the Home Office directly as part of the application process.
