SERVICE FEE
Drafting a simple Power of Attorney (OPG not required) £600
Completing, submitting and registering LPA/LPF with OPG £1200

Timescale and key stages

The process of registering a Lasting Power of Attorney requires the documents to be produced properly before being submitted to the Office of the Public Guardian.

Currently, the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is taking around 20 weeks to register Lasting Powers of Attorney from the point they are received.

This should usually be between 10-12 weeks but has been extended due to a backlog from the COVID 19 pandemic.

Normally, work involves: Taking formal instructions, advise on documents and options, preparing drafts as per instructions, reviewing by client before formal signature, execution by client (signature), then submission. This applies to both those requiring registration with the OPG, and those that do not (simple ones- not required to be registered with the OPG).
