Kay Agbaje-Williams

Practice areas: Immigration, Private Client, Power of Attorney & Commissioner for Oaths

Kay is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales and a specialist immigration law practitioner. He is also qualified to practice as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

He began his legal career abroad at the firm of Rotimi Williams and Co, one of the foremost legal practices in Nigeria at the time. Following successful completion of his LLM at University College London, he worked in the Civil Service and was a presenting officer for the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority. For many years he successfully advocated the Government’s position in countless tribunal hearings, saving the Government millions of pounds.

He moved into the private sector where he worked with Hackman Solicitors in London. Whilst there, he became an accredited immigration practitioner, building up a significant practice in immigration law. He has expanded his areas of practice to probate and letters of administration.

Kay is best known for his tenacity and attention to detail, his sound reasoning and analytical abilities, and his problem solving skills. He loves legal technicalities which are evident from his detailed skeleton arguments – but that is what makes him such a successful practitioner! These strategic skills have resulted in ‘more than satisfactory’ settlements and outcomes for clients.

A very private person, he loves listening to music, and following the Formula One racing season.

He is a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (“ILPA”).

Whilst Kay Agbaje-Williams is the main practitioner, he has consultant solicitors who work with him.

Abi Agbaje-Williams

Practice areas: Employment Law, including Discrimination

Abi is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales with experience in both claimant and respondent employment work acquired in both the public sector and private practice. An effective and strategic negotiator with keen analytical skills, she began her legal career in what is now known as the Ministry of Justice as an in-house legal adviser to the HR and other departments on a range of subject areas including, employment, discrimination, personal injury and public law. Prior to this, she was a manager in the county courts and central government, giving her the foundational and practical skills to deal with the minutiae of employment law practice.

Abi’s time at the Ministry of Justice was followed by a period at the Equality and Human Rights Commission, first as a litigation solicitor conducting litigation in discrimination law claims taken up by the Commission, before moving to the Legal Policy Team as a senior policy lawyer. Whilst at the Commission she worked on the Equality Bill (now Equality Act 2010) where much of her work involved reviewing and advising on government bills, providing information for use in Parliament and attending meetings with stakeholders.

From there she moved into private practice in the City, practising as a consultant employment lawyer at Crowther Solicitors before setting up Williams Hortor with Kay. After stepping down from the partnership in 2018, she worked with the Royal Bank of Scotland as an assessor of compensation due to businesses that had been in the bank’s Global Restructuring Group (GRG), following a parliamentary investigation.

She now works as a consultant in the employment departments of local and national firms.

Abi is an accredited community mediator and former trustee of her mediation organisation, as well as former president of her old girls association. In her spare time she enjoys going on walks, going to museums and the theatre, and spending time with friends and family.

She is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association, the Discrimination Law Association. She is also qualified to practice in Nigeria as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Laitan Eyiowuawi – LL.M

Laitan is a solution-orientated solicitor, specialising in private client, property, and commercial law. He has concurrent qualifications in England and Nigeria and almost 30 years’ experience in both contentious and non-contentious areas of law. He strives to make every day count.

Laitan regularly acts for clients in cross-border transactions, litigations, successions, property, and trust matters. He has advised the national oil corporation in Nigeria and has been called upon by a notable City law firm and other firms for his opinion on cross-border probate matters. As well as advising private oil and gas companies in Nigeria, Laitan has also carried out legal audits and due diligence for leading banks and blue-chip companies in Nigeria.

He previously worked in Legal Compliance at King’s College University of London, where he guided the College through particularly complex aspects of the law, preparing guidance notes and precedents in the field of data protection, freedom of information, regulation of investigatory powers and various discrimination laws.

He was the Treasurer of Early Bird Speakers (a London based charter of Toastmasters International) and also a member of the Governing Board of a school in a London Borough.

Laitan is a long-suffering Arsenal football fan and the Super Eagles of Nigeria. He is also an eclectic lover of languages and travelling.
